Writer and teacher Mercedes Giuffré was born in Buenos Aires in 1972. Her most renowned work to date is her historical crime fiction saga, which includes the following titles: Deuda de sangre (2008), El peso de la verdad (2010), El carro de la muerte (2011) and Almas en pena (2017). Other books by Giuffré include: Los olvidados (2021), a historical novel about World War II and the Spanish Civil War, and several biographies, a short story collection, stories written for anthologies and two academic essays. She got a master’s degree in Spanish and Latin American Literatures from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and she is a university professor. Not one to sit still, she regularly publishes research papers as well, teaches creative writing workshops and collaborates with the promotion of historical literature in the media, both in Argentina and abroad.
